Hide Home Screens

In this video, we’re going to look at how we can hide our home screens on the iPhone. This is a new feature that was introduced with iOS 14. Let’s go to my iPhone.

Now we can see here that I have quite a few home screens. I swipe to the left or right to go through these different home screens. In the last lesson, you also saw how I can easily tap and hold on the dots down here at the bottom. To navigate between these different home screens.

Well, in addition to navigating between these home screens, we can also hide them. It doesn’t delete any of the apps within that home screen, but it will not show on our home screen. We’ll have to access them from the library, which I’ll talk about and their lesson.

So how do we hide these different home screens will to do that? What we have to do is go into our jiggly mode. So I tap and hold on any one of the app icons. It doesn’t matter which home screen you’re on. I’m going to go with tap forms here; I tap and hold on it. And then we wait until it jiggles.

And now, what we do is we go down to the bottom here where this is highlighted. And when I tap on it, I’m able to select which screens I want to see by default; all of the screens will have these checkmarks. If I no longer want to see a home screen, I de-select it. So let’s, de-select these bottom three. I’m going to de-select four of them. So I tap on these checkmarks here. I do not want to tap on the home screen itself. If I tap on this, it brings me to that home screen. That’s not what I want to do. I want to hide them. So I tap on this again. We’re in our jiggly mode here. And now, I tap on the checkmark. You’re going to see that it is now de-selected. Let’s go ahead and de-select a couple more here. We’re going to go to this one here.

So now, all I have are these two home screens selected. When I tap on done, watch what happens. I now have two home screens. It’s just my main two home screens. Now it did not delete any of those apps on those home screens. I can still access those apps through the library, the app library. This is also new in iOS 14. I’ll talk about that in another lesson, but to get to the app library or get to all of your apps, you swipe over to the right again. And you’re looking at your app library to go back to your home screens. You swipe back over to the right. And you’re back at your home screens. Again, I’ll talk about the app library in another lesson.

If I want to show them again, I’d tap and hold on any one of the app icons until we get to our jiggly mode, or what I can do is tap on edit home screen. I tap on my slider here, and now I select the home screens. I want to see. I’m going to go with all of them again. So I select them all. I have all six of them selected. Now when I tap outside, and then I swipe up to close, we can see we have all of my six home screens.

So that’s how we can hide our home screens on the iPhone. All we have to do is go into the jiggly mode, tap and hold on any one of the app icons or any one of your widgets on your home screen. You’ll see your apps jiggle. And then down at the bottom where you have your row dots, tap on that, and you’re going to be able to select and de-select your different home screens. If they are selected, they’ll show; if you de-select them, they will no longer be on your home screen. You can still get at your apps through the library, the app library.

So that’s how we hide our different home screens on the iPhone.
