Learn how to view and change display settings, including text size, for all the apps on the iPhone.

With iOS 15, Apple introduced the ability to change display and text size options on a per-app basis, but you can also change these same options for all of your apps on the iPhone. Need the text larger across all your apps? Or maybe you would like to reduce the motion effect? Learn how in this video for the iPad.

Video TranscriptIn this video, we’re going to look at the Display & Text Size options we have available to us on the iPhone. Let’s go to my iPhone.

Now to change our display and text size, what we need to do is go to our Settings app. This is an Accessibility option. So we go to our Settings app and then what we do is we go down to Accessibility.

Under Accessibility, you’re going to see Display & Text Size. This is where we can set if we want to reduce motion or make all of our text bold. Now this option here is for all of the apps on the iPhone. If you want to apply these same changes on a per app basis, what you’ll want to do a swipe up and then go to Per App Settings. We have a lot of the same settings available to us, but we can customize it on a per app basis. We’re just going to look at how we can do this for all of the apps on our iPhone.

To do that, we go back over to our Display & Text Size. I tap on this, and now I can see all of our different options for display and text size.

So what am I looking at here? Well, our first options here are for our text. I can make our text bold. I can change the size of the text. I can add button shapes. I can add on and off labels, or reduce transparency. Below that we have our different display options. I can increase the contrast. I can differentiate without color. I can use smart invert or classic invert. And when I swipe up, I also have filters I can apply, maybe I want to make my iPhone black and white. And then I can reduce the white point and turn on and off auto brightness.

Now, any changes that I make here are going to be applied to all of the apps on my iPhone. So let’s go and make my text bold. When I do that, let’s go ahead and turn this on, we can see that it made my text bold in the Settings app. Let’s take a look at my Messages app. I swipe up from the bottom here and we go over to Messages. We can see that the text is bold.

What about button shapes? I swipe up from the bottom and we go back over to my Settings app, and I go over to Accessibility and then we go back over to my Display & Text Size. I want to add button shapes. I tap on the slider here and now we can see, we have an underline under anything that is a button. So now I can easily see what I can tap on. And again, this will apply on all of my apps. When I swipe up and go back over to my messages. If I tap on my conversation here, we can see that this is a button because it is underlined. And then I also have a couple more buttons here. So any changes that I make in that setting, in that Accessibility setting per Display & Text Size, any changes that I make are going to be applied on all of the apps on my iPhone.

Again, if you want to make it on a per app basis, customize it on a per app basis, then what you’ll do is you’ll swipe down to the bottom while in Accessibility and go to Per App Settings.

So that’s how we can change our display and text size on all of our apps on the iPhone. This is an accessibility option, so we need to go to our Settings app and then go to Accessibility. From there we go to Display & Text Size. Any changes that we make will be applied to all of the apps on our iPhone. So that’s how we change our display and tech size options we have on the iPhone.
