In this video, I’m going to show you how you can easily open up a webpage in a new tab in Safari on the iPad. Let’s go to my iPad.
So I’m in Safari here, and what I would like to do is open up a few of these links here in new tabs. Now, if I just tap on this, what it would do is open it up in this tab. It’ll just replace what I have here.
If I tap and hold on it or long press on it, let’s go ahead and long press on it, I’m able to open it up in the background. This will open it up in a new tab in the background. So let’s go ahead and do that and we can see it opened it up in the background there in a new tab. Let’s go and do that with Taking Screenshots. Again, I tap and hold, and then I go over to Open in Background.
But there’s an easier way to do this. Let’s go over to Working with Applications. I want to open this up in a new tab. Instead of long pressing on it and then selecting Open in Background, if I tap on this link with two fingers, it will automatically open it up in the background in a new tab. So let’s go ahead and tap on this with two fingers, and we can see it open it up in a new tab. Let’s do that again. This time we’re going to go with Working with Documents. I just tap on it with two fingers, and we can see it as opening up in a new tab.
So now what I’m able to do is just go through these tabs here and view the different pages. I would just go up under the icon here for viewing and all my tabs. I can see all of my tabs and I tap on the one I want to open.
So that’s how we can easily open up tabs or web pages and new tabs in the background on the iPad. If we just long press on it or tap and hold on it, we will have the option to open it up in the background in a new tab. But the faster way of doing that is with two fingers, just tap on the link with two fingers. When you do that, the iPad will automatically, or Safari will automatically open up that link in the background in a new tab.
So that’s how you can easily open up web pages or links to web pages to new tabs on the iPad.
