View multiple photos as a stack in a message conversation on the iPhone.

When you receive multiple photos or videos in a message, the Messages app will now display them as a collection. It stacks all the photos and videos like a deck of cards. You can then swipe through them to view the photos or videos. You can also easily save all of them or select which ones you want to save to your Photos app. See how Photo Collectiosn works in this video for Messages on the iPhone.

Video TranscriptIn this video, we’re going to look at Photo Collections in the Messages app on the iPhone. This was introduced with iOS 15. Let’s go to my iPhone.

So I’m in my Messages app here, and I have a message that has five images in it. Let’s tap on this to open it up. If we look here, you’re going to see these five images are now stacked on top of each other in a collection.

This is the new Photo Collection that Apple introduced with the iOS 15. To view all of the photos, all you have to do is just swipe to the left or right and you can go through your stack of photos.

You want to save them to your Photos app? All you have to do is just go over to the download icon here, and you can save them to your Photos app. I’m going to cancel here.

Let’s say you want it to view them larger. To view them larger, you just tap on it and I can view them larger. I can pinch to zoom in, and then I can also swipe to go through all the different photos.

Down at the bottom we do have a few options. I can save this one photo to my photos. I can share this photo. And then if I want to reply back with the photo I tap on reply. And then if I want to comment on this such as giving it a thumbs up or love it, all I have to do is just tap on the comment bubble here and I can go and comment on it.

Now, all these features here down at the bottom are for this single photo. Let’s say I wanted to save a couple of the photos to my Photos app. I don’t want to save all of them in this collection, just a couple of them. Well, then what I do is I go up to my thumbnails here. I tap on Select to select which photos I want to save. So we’re just going to go with these two photos. We can see, we have a blue check mark by them. And from here, all I have to do is just tap on the Save button and it’ll save those two photos to my Photos app. So we can also select which photos we want to save from this photo collection.

And then if you want to delete them, you can also do that. You go back up to Select. Tap on the photos you want to delete, and then you’re going to see the trash here. Now, if you do not select any photos, I’m going to cancel here. If you do not select any photos, what it will do is it’ll save all five photos to your Photo library. When you tap on the Save button and it’ll also share all five photos. But when you select, when you go up to the upper right hand corner and select, what you are able to do is select, which photos you want to save as well as delete.

So that’s the new Photo Collections we have in the Messages app on the iPhone. Again, this was introduced in iOS 15, and basically what it does is when you receive a number of different photos and a message, it’ll put them together in a collection. They’re going to be stacked one on top of each other and all you have to do to go through those different photos is just swipe to the left or right. If you tap on any one of them, it’ll open it up and then you can zoom in and out as well as swipe to the left or right to view them larger. You can also select which ones you want to save, by going up to the thumbnail icon in the upper right-hand corner, select which photos you want to save, and then tap on the save.

So that’s the new Photo Collection we have in the Messages app on the iPhone.
