Video TranscriptionAll I need to do is just select the files that I want to move into a new folder. So I’m going to go to my first file here, I select it. And then I go over to my last file here, I hold down the shift key and select it, it’s going to select all of the files in between there. So now I have all of these files selected. Now all I need to do is just hold down the Control key and click this is my favorite way of doing it through a contextual menu. So I hold down the Control key, and I click and you’re going to see a new folder with selection.
When I select this, what it’s going to do is create a new folder, it’s going to move all of those items that I have selected into that folder. And then I can also name that folder. So let’s go ahead and do that I selected we can see it moved into a new folder. And now it’s ready for me to name it. So let’s just call this membership files. Let’s do that again. This time, we’re going to use the menu bar to do it. So I have these two files here that I would like to move into a separate folder. Again, the first thing I need to do is I need to select them, I have them selected. Now I just go up to the menu bar. And just like when I use a contextual menu, when I click on it, you’re going to see a new folder with selection I selected, it’s going to create a new folder, placed those items in there. And then it’s ready for me to name it.
So I’m just going to call this classes. And now those two items are in that folder. My membership items are in my membership folder. So that’s how we can move selected files into a new folder on the Mac. We basically just select our files, and then you can use either the contextual menu hold down the Control key, or you can go up to the menu bar, and then from there you select New Folder with selection. When you do that your Mac will move all of those items that you have selected into a new folder. And then all you have to do is just start typing and you can name that folder. So that’s how you can easily select files and place them into a new folder on the Mac.
