In this tip for the Mac, I show you how you can automatically hide and show the Dock on the Mac. When you hide the Dock, you’ll find you’ll have more room on your Mac’s display. This can come in handy if you have a smaller display, or you keep a log of windows open. See how you can automatically hide and show the Dock on the Mac in the video above.

We’re going to look at how it can automatically hide the Dock. When we hide the Dock, we have a little bit more room on our display. Let’s take a look at how it can have our Dock automatically hide. Let’s go to my Mac now, right now; you can see the Dock is across the bottom of my display. What I would like to do is I would like to hide the Dock.
Then I have a little bit more room on my display to do that. All we have to do is go up to the Apple menu. And then we go over to our System Preferences. We have a preference pane called Dock. I say, where I have all the Dock settings, including where I can automatically hide it. Let’s click on it.
And we have one option here automatically hide and show the Dock. When I check this, I’m going to go and check this. You’re going to see that the Dock disappears. So now, how do I get the Dock back? All I have to do is bring my cursor down. And the Dock shows I can go and open up any app that I want. I can open up any documents.
If I have in my Dock, when I moved my cursor away, the doc hides again. So I bring my cursor down. His shows, bring my cursor up it hides. And if I want to turn it back off, I go back to my System Preferences. So that’s how we can have our doc automatically hide. On the Mac, we go to our System Preferences, go to Dock and then select automatically hide and show the Dock.
So that’s how we automatically hide and show our Dock on the Mac.
