In this lesson for the Mac, I show you how you can easily open an application directly from the Launchpad icon in the Mac’s Dock. This is one of my favorite ways to open n app, as you do not have to open the Applications folder, or the actual Launchpad app. See how to quickly open app by using the Launchpad’s icon in the Dock on the Mac.

In this video, I’m going to show you an easy way of opening up an application through the Launchpad icon and the Dock. When we use this method that I’m going to show you here, we no longer have to open up the Applications folder to open an app, and we no longer have to open up the Launchpad to open an app. Let’s see what I mean. Let’s go to my Mac.
Let’s first review the different ways to open up an application. Probably the most popular way is through the Applications folder. We can go up to go to the menu bar, as long as we’re in our Finder. Here we go over to go, and then we select applications. And then, we just stopped click on the application.
We want to open another popular way is through the sidebar on a Finder window. And when we go over to my Finder here and click on it, open up a new Finder window, you’re going to see we have applications. And now I can double click on the application I want to open. A third way is through the Launchpad.
We click on this, and it brings an iOS type experience to our Mac. We swipe to find our different applications, click on it, to open it up. One of my favorite ways is just through the Launchpad icon. We have to click and hold on this, and then we can select the application we want to open.
So let’s say I wanted to open up the Zoom app. I click and hold on this. We can see all of my different applications. Now. All I need to do is just select Zoom, and it’ll open up Zoom. Let’s say I want it to open up the Calculator. Again, I go over to my Launchpad. I click and hold, and then all I do is type C for Calculator. And you’re going to see a pulled up Calculator.
Let’s say I want it to open up Pages. I go down to my Launchpad, click, and hold. I type a P, and we have Pages. If I were to let go of this. So it would open up pages on my Mac. So that’s how we can easily open up an application through the Launchpad icon.
All we have to do is click and hold on the Launchpad. As long as it’s in the Dock, we click and hold on the Launchpad icon, and then we can select the app. We want to open. So that’s how we can easily open up an application through the Launchpad icon on the Mac.
