In this video, we’re going to look at a few different ways to easily access our camera without first opening up the Camera app. As an example, we can easily open up our camera from our lock screen, or when we’re looking at our home screen, and we see the Camera app, we can easily switch to a different mode, such as video mode or portrait mode, without actually first opening up the Camera app. Let’s see how we can easily access our camera on the iPhone. Let’s go to my iPhone.
Now, right now, my iPhone is asleep. This is an iPhone X. If I wanted to access the camera and maybe take a video, the first thing I would need to do is I would need to tap on it, being it’s an iPhone with Face ID, I swipe up, and then I need to go to the camera. And now I swipe over to the right to get to my video.
Well, there’s an easier way to get to the camera, particularly when your iPhone is asleep. I’m going to put my iPhone back to sleep. Now, what I need to do is just need to tap on it to wake it up. But instead of swiping up, I just swipe over to the left, and now I’m looking at my camera. I can easily switch between my different lenses by swiping to the left or right. So that’s one way of quickly getting to the camera. While your iPhone is asleep, all you have to do is just tap on it and then swipe over to the left.
We can also tap and hold on this little icon here. If I just tap on it, it doesn’t do anything. You’re going to see a grows, but it doesn’t do anything. What I need to do is just tap and hold on it or long-press on it. Then when I let go, it opens up the camera. So that’s another way of quickly accessing the camera.
When your iPhone is unlocked, I’m going to swipe up here; my iPhone is unlocked. If you want to open up your camera to take a portrait photo, or maybe you want to take a video, instead of opening up and then sliding back and forth, what you can do is tap and hold on this or long-press on it, we get a pop-up menu, and from here, I can take a portrait selfie. This is going to use the front-facing camera. I can take a portrait photo using the rear-facing camera. I can also record a video as well as take a selfie. I just tap on any one of these. Let’s go with record a video. We can see it opened straight up to video mode. I’m going to swipe up. If I tap and hold on this, and then I go to take portrait, it’s going to go straight to portrait mode.
Those are some of the different ways we can access our camera without actually opening up the Camera app. When our iPhone is locked, we just tap on it to wake it up, and then we swipe over to the left to get to our camera. We can also long-press on the camera icon in the lower right-hand corner to open up our camera. When we use this method, we do not have to unlock our iPhone. When our iPhone is unlocked, if we long press on the camera icon, we can also go to our different modes, such as portrait mode and video mode. Just long-press on the camera icon, you’ll have a menu that pops up and select what mode or what lens you want to switch to.
So that’s how we can easily access our camera without actually opening up the iPhone’s Camera app.
