I’ve added captions and transcriptions to my lessons on customizing your Mac through the System Preferences. These lessons are part of my Tutor for Mac, and they are designed to help you get acquainted with some of System Preferences available to you and what changes you can make with your Mac. These lessons include how to access and find the System Preferences as well as the various preference panes. I then go into a few of the preference panes in detail including the general preferences and how to use Hot Corners. With our general preferences we can set the Mac to use Dark Mode, we can show the scroll bar at all times, and set the accent color. I then go to the various options we have for printers and scanners, including managing the print queues and viewing printer supplies. With sound preferences I show you how to se the levels for input and output. I then move to Wi-Fi settings and the different options available to us with Wi-Fi networks. I start wrapping it up with a look at adding internet accounts, such as Gmail and Yahoo!, how to create user accounts on the Mac itself, and then adding parental controls.
Lessons to help you work with System Preferences on your Mac include:
- System Preferences Overview
- General Preferences
- Using Hot Corners
- Working with Printers and Scanners
- A Quick look at Sound Preferences
- A closer look at Wi-fi Settings
- A closer look at Internet Accounts
- Creating User Accounts
- Adding Parental Controls
So how do the captions work? While watching the video, you just click or tap on the CC in the playbar of the video. From there you can choose to show captions. The captions are in available only in English.
What about the transcriptions? The transcription makes it easy to see, or read, what the video is about. It also makes the search on my site more robust. Now when you search for a term, any lesson with that term or terms in the transcript, will show up in your results. So if I mention it in the video, you’ll be able to search for it. I have most of the transcript hidden by default, you’ll see about 3 lines of the transcript below the video description. Click on ‘Show all the Transcript’ to view the entire transcript.
I am adding more captions and transcriptions on a regular basis. I’ll keep you posted. I hope you find them helpful!
